Opposites On The Spectrum

July 30, 2013

I think my favourite colour combination to wear in clothes is pink and blue. Something about these two colours just work so well in an outfit. I find it difficult to mix different colours into outfits. When I'm in a rush in the morning, which is like everyday, I'll usually throw on my neutrals with one coloured item because you can never go wrong with that. I can honestly dress better if I had time in the morning but sleep always wins!

I think I bought this shirt back in 2010 but I never got much wear out of it. Now that the denim/chambray trend is going on, I think it's quite fitting to pull this back out of my closet. I once watched a youtuber and she said that every year, she would donate majority of her clothes and buy new ones for that season. Sure, donating is great but that's a lot of money to buy a new wardrobe every time! Nothing is ever out of style if you can pair it nicely.

Recently, I learned an interesting fact from my psychology course. Did you know that magenta is not a "real" colour? Mind-blown! Long story short, colour is a psychological interpretation of light waves. Short wavelengths are perceived as blue; the length increases till the maximal red perceived colour. Magenta is a mixture of long and short wavelengths on the light spectrum which are found on opposite ends. Magenta doesn't exist as a pure form of light since red and blue wavelengths aren't found next to each other on the spectrum. All other colours are known as spectral hues and magenta is a non-spectral hue. And that is your psychology lesson for the day!

There weren't many photos I liked for this post and this is the best I could do. It's still not very good but I'm working on being natural in photos!

  3. Your outfit is so cute, I love the chambray shirt (don't they go with everything?) and the red shorts add just the right amount of color. Woah that's pretty cool that magenta is not a real color, I had no idea :)
